My name is Marcus and I am the CEO of FirstDock LLC - your first port of call when it comes to your boat.

As a trained master car mechanic from North Rhine-Westphalia, my passion for sailing has taken me from the garage to the open sea.

From the Ruhr region to the open sea

I grew up in the heart of the Ruhr area in North Rhine-Westphalia, but I haven't lived in Germany for quite some time now. My home is anywhere in the world - as long as I'm at sea. 

I was literally born with a fascination for sailing. Even before I could swim properly, my father whisked me away to the sea of endless possibilities. On a small Optimist, which was more than just a boat for me - it was the gateway to my passion. It wasn't long before I knew: this is my world. With a twinkle in my eye, you could say that my father soon had no chance of fooling me. His attempts to teach me sailing tricks were matched by my young ambition and passion.
 

Over 100,000 nautical miles of experience 

So it's hardly surprising that I've been a full-time professional skipper for over 25 years now. With over 100,000 nautical miles sailed, I can look back on a wealth of experience. Challenging areas such as the Bay of Biscay, the English Channel, the North Atlantic and the Suez Canal are familiar terrain for me. 

Repair genius and problem solver 

My technical know-how as a master car mechanic doesn't just benefit me when I'm sailing. I carry out practically all repairs on board myself. My motto is: There are no problems, only challenges, and I find a solution for every challenge! Often all it takes is a little creativity and my talent for improvisation. 

Good network 

In my many years in the industry, I have not only explored the oceans, but also created valuable partnerships. I have a lively exchange with many experienced skippers and have a network of reliable crew members to get your yacht safely from A to B.
